Where is the Department of Linguistics located?

The Rutgers Department of Linguistics is located at 18 Seminary Place on the College Avenue Campus (CAC), in New Brunswick, NJ, 08901. We're in a large three-story yellow house across from the new Honors College, next to the Voorhees Mall, and near the Zimmerli Art Museum and the Barnes & Noble. The campus bus system stops just down the street from the Linguistics Department on College Ave across from Scott Hall.

Located in Central Jersey, we are just north of Princeton, about an hour's drive NW of the Jersey Shore, a short train- or bus-ride away from New York City, and close to major airports in Newark, New York, Trenton, and Philadelphia.

Here's how to get to us...

...By Air:

Fly into Newark International Airport. Take the Airporter Shuttle to the Hilton East Brunswick and Towers. From there take a taxi or the M15 or M18 city bus (they run approximately every 30 minutes throughout the day) to New Brunswick, NJ and the Linguistics Department.

...By Train/Bus:

NY/NJ/PA travelers should consult NJTransit and Amtrak for up-to-the-minute train and bus schedules. Consult also these detailed instructions on getting to the Linguistics Dept. from various locales.

Rutgers - New Brunswick is located in Central New Jersey. The Amtrak/NJ Transit train stop, which lies on the popular Northeast Corridor line, is within walking distance of our Department, which makes travel to other major cities, such as NYC, Philadelphia, DC, and Boston very easy. We are surrounded by diverse restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. Rutgers part of the Big Ten conference. The weather here is a mix of the MidAtlantic and Northeast: summers are hot, winters are cold and often snowy, and the spring and fall are pleasant.
