  • Prerequisite: One of the courses from (B); 01:615:305, 315, 325, or 350
  • This course provides an introduction to forensic linguistics, or the application of linguistics within legal settings. Students will examine the linguistic analyses of language as forensic evidence as well as how language is used and interpreted by suspects, police, laws, and courts. Topics such as syntax, semantics, phonetics, phonology, morphology, pragmatics, and sociolinguistics will inform our examination of language from evidence to courtroom.
